Have you ever found something in your life that felt like a secret treasure?

Read the Scripture: Matthew 6:5-15

  • Reflect on the sermon. Is there anything that stood out to you?

Who are the characters in this passage and how do they differ?

  • Consider the context and what Jesus is pushing back against.

  • Matthew 6:5, โ€œโ€œAnd when you pray, you must not be like the hypocrites. For they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and at the street corners, that they may be seen by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward.โ€

What essential elements of a prayer life are communicated in this passage? How have you seen those lived well?

  • Matthew 6:6, โ€œBut when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father,ย who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.โ€
