Generosity of Jesus: Generous Creator
Can you remember a time that you felt misunderstood? What were the implications, and how did you reach an understanding?
How does the generosity of God cut against the cultural misunderstandings of God and money?
Read the Scripture: Luke 12:13-34
Reflect on the sermon. Is there anything that stood out to you? How are you encouraged or convicted?
Who are the characters in this passage, and what is being communicated through them? How is Jesus the fulfillment of this passage?
Luke 12:32, “Fear not, little flock, for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.”
What is communicated in this Scripture about God and our relationship to him?
What are the implications of valuing our lives in the abundance of our possessions?
How does it prevent us from believing in the generosity of God?
Luke 12:25 — “And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life? 26 If then you are not able to do as small a thing as that, why are you anxious about the rest?

James 1:17 — “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change.”
Luke 12:32 — “Fear not, little flock, for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.
John 3:16 — “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.”
Application: Where may God be calling you to adjust your resources?
GROUP EXERCISE
Break into three groups (number of groups may change depending on the amount of people). Each group will take time to study their allocated Scriptures for 5-7 mins. When each group has finished gleaning insights, the groups will come back together to share with everyone. Please keep sharing to about 3 mins.
If you are short on time you are welcome to look at the verses together as a group.
Group # 1
Matt. 7:11 – If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him!
Luke 11:3 – Give us each day our daily bread.
Luke 11:9 – And I tell you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.
Group # 2
Matt. 10:1 – And he called to him his twelve disciples and gave them authority over unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal every disease and every affliction.
Jhn. 3:34 – For he whom God has sent utters the words of God, for he gives the Spirit without measure.
1 Cor. 12:7 – To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good.
Group # 3
Jhn. 3:27 – John answered, “A person cannot receive even one thing unless it is given him from heaven.
1 Cor. 15:57 – But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
Matt. 16:19 – I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.”
